DL-Methionine is the common name ofmethionine. Methionine is one of the essential amino acids that constitute thehuman body and an essential amino acid for animals. The addition of methioninein feed is to participate in protein synthesis. If methionine is lacking, itwill hinder protein synthesis in the body and cause damage to the body. . Theprotein in animal products comes from the protein in the feed. The lack of feedmaterials, especially the lack of protein feed, is the primary factorrestricting the development of animal husbandry. At present, the main varietyof amino acid produced by the feed industry is lysine. , Methionine and a smallamount of tryptophan and threonine.

All kinds of livestock and poultry uselysine and methionine, but the use of methionine in poultry feed is important. The addition of methionine to poultry feed formula is not only required fornutrition, but also can greatly inhibit various mycotoxins (such as aflatoxin).Growth, which has the effect of disease prevention and health care for poultry.Experiments have shown that long-term feeding of methionine-free feed topoultry results in an infection rate of 85%. When fed with feed containingmethionine additives, the infection rate of poultry is only about 8% under thesame environmental conditions.

Animal feed with methionine can helpanimals grow quickly in a short time, saving about 40% of feed. In compoundfeed, especially poultry feed, methionine is the first restricted amino acid. Thelack of methionine in livestock and poultry can cause stunted growth, weightloss, weakened liver and kidney functions, muscle atrophy, and deterioration offur. Adding 1 kg of methionine to the feed is equivalent to the nutritionalvalue of 50 kg of fish meal (additional amount is 0.05% to 0.2%). Theconfiguration of methionine in feed includes DL-methionine, hydroxymethionine, calcium salt of hydroxymethionine, and N-hydroxymethylmethionine. In the feedindustry, methionine is in great demand, especially among the varieties ofamino acid nutritional feed additives, methionine accounts for 60%, lysineaccounts for 30%, and other amino acids account for about 10%.
